Location and style
"Villa Laura" is a welcoming and well-kept holiday home a few steps from the sea and with direct access to the beach.
The place, slightly raised, offers a spectacular view over the entire Gulf of S. Eufemia (or Lamezia Terme) to the Aeolian Islands (visible on clearer days).
Just 200 meters away, also reachable on foot, along the beach, is one of the most visited sites in the Calabria Region: the small church of Piedigrotta, entirely carved into the rock with its numerous statues in the round.
The city of Pizzo
With about 9,000 inhabitants, it is located approximately in the center of the Tyrrhenian coast of Calabria, in the southern part of the Gulf of S. Eufemia.
It is easily accessible as it is served by a special exit of the Salerno - Reggio Calabria motorway, by two railway stations, as well as by the airport and the railway station. SS. of Lamezia Terme (which are about 15 minutes away by car).
From a nautical point of view, it is noted that it is very close to the commercial port of Vibo Marina - which at the moment, for nautical yachtsmen coming from the North, remains an obligatory stop for Sicily and the Aeolian Islands -, and constitutes the extreme north of the most beautiful stretch of the Calabrian coast, the one that, in fact, from Pizzo reaches Capo Vaticano, passing through Tropea.
It is a seaside resort that is still fairly well preserved; especially in the historic center, perched on a promontory - from which you can enjoy the view of the entire Gulf - and sloping down towards the sea with a weaving of narrow streets.
Behind the inhabited center the last offshoots of the Serre loom, while towards the north begins the long and narrow plain of Angitola, and towards the south, after Vibo Marina, Tropea and Capo Vaticano meet.
In addition to the naturalistic environmental charm of the places, due to the proximity of the Serre mountains, the flora and fauna oasis of Lake Angitola, and the most beautiful and famous coast of the Region; the territory of Pizzo presents significant reasons of tourist-cultural interest, which not only concern the monumental and architectural values ??of the buildings and churches of the historic center (mainly from the 17th and 18th centuries), but the whole cultural tourist itinerary, in which it is inserted - the one that collects the testimonies of the Byzantine-Norman-Swabian civilization.
Another architectural element of certain cultural and folkloric interest is the small church of Piedigrotta, which is found along the coast, just outside the town of Pizzo, towards Lamezia, entirely carved into the rock with its statues in the round.
Villa Laura is perfect for the typical seaside holiday made of beach, sea, sun but its location, easy to access, is also perfect as a starting point for visiting other places in Calabria.
